The Philadelphia Main Line, commonly known in the are as Main Line, it is an historical and social suburban area that beging in west Philadelphia and it extends along the Pennsylvania Railroad. The area was originally occupied by the Lenni Lenape Native Americans. In the 1600s the area was occupied by Europeans after that William Penn sold some land to a group of Welsh Quakers in 1681.

In the 20th century, many families living the in city of Philadelphia decided to move to the Main Line suburbs. Many investments were made that produced great prosperity in the area. Therefore, the Main Line area quickly became the most affluent, attactive and fashionable region in the area.

The Main Line is a line of communities of about 200 square miles. Within the Main Line region there are numerous public and private schools that are nationally ranked.
